What Is Evo ICL?

EVO ICL, also known as an Implantable collamer Lens, is a high-tech lens made of a biocompatible material called collamer, that works in concert with the biochemistry and biomechanics of your natural eye. This advanced lens is designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses and contacts, providing premium vision outcomes while optimizing patient comfort.

EVO is an updated collamer lens that eliminates the need for a pre-surgical preparation step that was necessary in earlier versions of the ICL. If you are seeking vision correction for nearsightedness with or without astigmatism, EVO ICL is a flexible solution that may be right for you.

Benefits of EVO ICL

• Delivers sharp & clear vision
• See clearly day and night
• Can correct high levels of myopia, nearsightedness & astigmatism
• 5 to 10 minute procedure with quick recovery time
• Great for Patients that can’t have laser vision correction due to thin corneas
• Does not cause dry eyes
• Made of collamer—a biocompatible material that harmonizes with your eye
• Unique barrier of UV protection
• Designed for permanent vision correction (but can be removed if needed)

Thin Corneas,
High Prescriptions
& Dry Eye

This remarkable technology may be ideal for patients with extreme ranges of nearsightedness and astigmatism—ranges once not thought not possible with vision correction. And because no cornea tissue is reduced in the procedure, ICLs are ideal for patients with naturally thin corneas, or dry eyes who may have been told ‘no’ to LASIK in the past. The lenses can not be felt inside the eyes, nor can they be seen cosmetically by others. They are designed to be completely hassle free, requiring no maintenance over time.

MEET THE DOCTORS

The New Standard for ICL Imaging

Monson Vision now houses Utah’s first and only ArcScan Insight® ultrasound scanner, the most advanced and accurate method for ultra-precision custom ICL sizing ever developed.

Because ICLs are custom sized for your unique eye anatomy prior to surgery, the predictive imaging and technology measuring your eye’s anatomy and optics are critical to the results of your surgery. Monson Vision is able to get the most accurate picture of your eye, so your vision restoration team can help you understand and make the best decisions for your vision.

ARCSCAN System

The ArcScan produces a new standard of image resolution, algorithm precision and measuring accuracy over the more typically used analog UBM systems—or White-to-White measurements.

ArcScan’s accuracy is assured to within one-sixth the diameter of a red blood cell (1.0µm) at the cornea, and within 0.12mm laterally behind the iris. This historic level of accuracy results in peace of mind both for your team in surgery planning, and for you the patient. The system’s sizing capability, essentially eliminates the risk of ICL size-related complications, by selecting the ICL size based on direct measurements of the posterior chamber with extreme accuracy. Truly, imaging ahead of the curve.

EVO Visian ICL VS.
Other Vision Correction Procedures

EVO Visian ICL
The EVO Visian ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a internal lens-based vision correction solution that corrects vision without removing any corneal tissue.

LASIK
LASIK is a two-step laser vision correction surgery where a window is made with light on the surface of the eye, and the underlying layers of cornea are elegantly reshaped with extreme precision– 1 hundredth the width of a human hair— with an excimer laser to correct vision.

Refractive Lens
During Refractive Lens Exchange surgery, the eye’s dysfunctional crystalline lens –which has lost its ability to ‘zoom,’ is elegantly removed with light, ultrasound and fluiditics in a gentle microscopic, laparoscopic procedure requiring no sutures or injections. A high-tech intraocular lens (IOL) upgrades the dysfunctional lens, correcting the patient’s vision for distance, intermediate and near. A remarkable option for aging eyes.

Few centers have technology this advanced.

The Allegretto family of lasers are the fastest and most precise laser systems for vision correction available in the U.S. Wavelight lasers represent a new generation of refractive technology far more recently designed than other laser platforms. They use technology referred to as High Performance Vision Correction, intended to achieve exceptional visual results under all lighting situations, day and night. The laser employs Perfect Pulse Technology® to safely and accurately control every single laser pulse from start to finish. The flexible performance of Allegretto Wavefront Optimized® LASIK technology enables the correction of each individual’s unique refractive errors while preserving the cornea’s natural shape, effectively reducing side effects such as poor night vision, glare, and halos.

That’s the precision of correction to gently shape the surface of the cornea with light.
Each laser vision correction procedure is customized for the refraction and corneal curvature of each patient. The focused light isn’t seen or felt, and imparts no burning sensation.

Monson Vision uses the fastest FDA-approved LASIK platform available in the country.
Each “burst” of the Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q 400Hz Laser lasts mere billionths of a second before the laser shifts to its next position-up to 100 times faster than some lasers. A correction of one diopter requires just two seconds of treatment. This means shorter procedure times with increased accuracy.

After the WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser procedure, patients are able to experience corrected vision. The laser offers highly customized cornea reshaping for the best possible results from almost any type of laser vision correction.
Clinical data presented to the FDA showed that quality of night vision after treatment was better than night vision quality before treatment with the best glasses or contact lenses. This is a first in history.

Eyes make constant involuntary movements, even in LASIK surgery. The WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser system includes a closed loop eye tracker that tracks the eye’s location during surgery to make sure that the eye has not moved before delivering the next pulse of laser energy. Eye movements are tracked with each laser pulse.

Perfect Pulse Technology controls every single pulse transmitted by the laser to ensure the accuracy, safety and speed of the procedure. With this monitoring, only every fifth pulse overlaps the previous one, reducing the risks of overheating the cornea. This also adds to the speed, precision and safety offered by the WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser system.

  • More precise than any other femtosecond laser with positional accuracy ~3 microns rather than >6 with older femtosecond systems
  • Delivers better results at lower total energy outputs because the laser energy (fluence) is lower and more focused
  • Smart Bed treatment of the VisuMax is extremely sophisticated, helping maintain the perfect, gentle contact pressure optimal for flap creation
  • Curved contact surface employs a curved contact surface when rendering treatment to closely match the curvature of the natural cornea
  • Much lower pressure than with all other femto systems and microkeratomes and is usually accompanied by temporary loss of vision (a few seconds) — creating a better, more comfortable patient experience
  • For the engineers reading this description, the VisuMax delivery system is opto-electronic; all other femto systems use opto-mechanical design. This significant design difference allows greater positional accuracy and puts VisuMax in a class by itself. No other femto laser is capable of the spatial accuracy necessary for ReLeX SMILE.
