CATARACTS

Welcome to Monson Vision.

STANDARD INTRAOCULAR LENSES (IOLs)

Standard Intraocular Lenses (IOL) are a basic lens technology that were first introduced in 1949 and have remained relatively unchanged since that time. They are designed only to replace and stop the progression of your dysfunctional natural lens. While Standard Intraocular Lenses “debulk” your prescription, they are limited in their ability to correct your vision. After surgery with standard lens implants, bifocal glasses or contact lenses will be needed full-time, to fully correct your vision at all distances. Your prescription will be different after surgery than it is before surgery. While your medical insurance benefits will be applied to the cost of a standard lens procedure, they will not address the cost of the glasses and contacts needed for life to correct your vision.

Beyond Standard Lenses

PANOPTIX®, RX SIGHT ™ Light Adjustable Lens, and Laser Cataracts Surgery are major recent advancements discussed below you may not have known were available, designed to address the limitations of standard lenses, and reduce your dependency on glasses. Monson Vision is among a handful of teams in the country at the forefront of this vision restoration technology.

Driving a car, reading a menu or checking a text message all require different ranges of focus that a Standard Lens can not restore. The Alcon PanOptix® Lens is designed to provide glasses-free distance, intermediate and near vision, in each eye. Vision results are stable overtime.

In 2019, Dr Bryan Monson pioneered this advanced approach to the region and was among the first surgeons in the nation to offer this technology.

PANOPTIX Lens may require laser precision to achieve vision restoration months after surgery. Custom fine-tuning with excimer laser is included in your investment.

Your full insurance benefits will be applied to your surgical costs, but there are additional expenses that are not covered with this lens. Interest-free payment options are available for your vision investment.

The Light-Adjustable Lens

Your full insurance benefits will be applied to your surgical costs, but there are additional expenses that are not covered with this lens. Interest-free payment options are available for your vision investment.

Light Adjustable Lens™ from RxSight® are a recent breakthrough technology that addresses the inherent vision inaccuracies of the Standard Lens. They are the first and only lens that can be customized after lens replacement surgery. The lens made of a space-age material that allow you the opportunity — to test drive your vision for weeks after surgery, and make changes in-office before “locking in” the final prescription.

Weeks after you receive your RxSight lenses, your lens prescription may then be customized to your precise goals, by exposing the lenses in your eyes to safe UV light delivered by an in office device (LDD). The special photosensitive material of the lens reacts to the UV light and changes shape to match the desired exact prescription you select and validate. Repeated adjustments can be made to ensure your exact vision goals are met, prior to making the changes permanent.

In addition to new lens technologies, one of the greatest advancements in cataract surgery is an improvement to the surgical process itself. Laser cataract surgery replaces the surgical blade and hand-held instruments used in traditional cataract surgery with a remarkably precise, computer-guided laser.

The laser performs key steps in cataract surgery including creating the initial incision, the opening of the capsule (which contains the natural lens), and precisely sectioning the dysfunctional lens. This technology has been designed to deliver improved safety and precision for patients.
